Sunglint on the Alabama Waterway

.Within this June 26, 2023, photo extracted from the International Spaceport station, sunlight polishes off the smooth waters of the Alabama Waterway in a sensation known as sunglint. When photographing Earth, rocketeers typically capitalize on sunglint's propensity to improve the comparison between water surfaces as well as concerning property surface areas. In the 1960s, the Alabama Stream was dammed, creating Dannelly Reservoir (the large polishing place at facility left). Building and construction of the dam also brought up water table upriver. This caused flooding at many aspects along the stream. These flooded zones are regular of flood plains-- the low, level areas immediately alongside larger rivers. Within this graphic, disaster area seem like irregular, bright designs stretching out of the waterway, like at Gee's Bend (facility bottom).Text Credit Rating: Justin Wilkinson.Image Debt: NASA/Woody Hoburg.
